Line damage

I had a look at my new line on suday, and noticed the skin was slightly damaged, I thought initially I lay have done it pulling it from under my foot. But irealised Id done it stripping it from the reel to cast it. By stripping it downwards,towards my feet, while the rod tip is pointing away, It is pulled over the edge of the reel frame, causing friction. Im quite an experience flyfisher, and hadnt till now realised this. So theres a tip for any one new to fly fishing, (or not so new)
Always strip the line towards the rod tip.

Similar thing happened to me a couple seasons ago, line was well and truly shot before I found the reason.
