live sandeel

has any1 tried fishing live sandeel from the boats from the tyne just i bought a job lot of gear and have a battery aireator and every time i go on boats a couple of pollock come over on lures so just thinking could i target them properly using sandeel fished on a flowing trace cheers in advance

I would imagine they would work well and its cheaper to loose a live sandeel than a £2 sidewinder.

In the south east we use the live sandeels a fair amount. They fish very well, on a flowing trace. Use 25lb amnesia and a strong but fine wire hook - eg Kamasam Uptide hook on a 2/0. Anything bigger is too heavy and thick and kill the sandeels too quickly. Make sure you put a fresh one on each drop. Joey macky is good too, but dies quickly.
