if i were you i would drive the extra 50 mile up to loch Etive. fish a mark nxt to the wind sock. if its too weedy there drive around to the quarry nd fish a mark called the flat rock. best baits are mackeral and crab cocktails. Ive never fished loch long so i cant offer any help there. if u want any more info on Etive P.M me.

thats great , heard a lot about loch etive always fancied it but never had chance until now to get up there, also heard of balcary point too

yeah i would certainly give etive a go 1st them maybees have a day down loch fyne on the way home, i would also reccomend wire traces as it could make the difference between landing a fish of a life time or loseing, if not dont drop no lower than 80lb snood lengths. Bait wise ya cannot go wrong with macky and squid but note on our last trip up there 1 lad just used joeys and cut a few slits in them and out fished the lot of us.

also beware of the midgies up there this time of year, they reckon they can be a right pest, ive heard of stories of anglers travelling up there had 1 cast and came home, may be a good idea to get a midgie net

hmm i wonder who it was using the joeys:D:D:D
there are codling to be caught up there too and i think mussel and crab do well for them, but if its spur dog then stick with mackeral mate, the frsher the better.
dont know much about loch long, but lock fyne has a few marks where you can target thornies and doggies but i cant remember the name of the marks on that loch:rolleyes:
