ahhh gods country! where you going, some of the best fishing in Britain (IMHO) is right at your finger tips
the pollock are back in big numbers already, lochaline pier is a must if you've never been there. doesn't matter how far you can cast, It'll end up at your feet, the water is 300 feet deep within 50 foot of the pier, doggoes, rays, even the chance of shore caught skate if you wanna try it. Spinning will turn up plenty of pollock an coalies, and the mackeral are back in up there now as well
plenty of good rock marks along sunart for the same sorts of species,
just past Laga bay as you head west, the rocks put you into fairly deep water close in, but for my money I'd travel right to the end of the peninsula, fish from the pier in kilchoan with the chance of a variety of flatties thrown in, spinning for pollock etc again there, or trip over to the lighthouse to spin for pollock, sanna bay for flattties.
At the lighthouse fish the front if the winds behind you, or from the old service pier if there's a westerly
massive worm beds at kilchoan at low tide for bait - rag/lug/white rag/king rag, If its bait fishing, take some frozen sandeel and squid, wrapped together seems to be the combination for rays and doggies.
there's just so much to choose from up there, really does depend where you're going, can possibly point you at some very specific marks
I'll be up there for a week at the beginning of june, and again for a week or 2 in july... and for 3 weeks in august!
