Long Rods

Anybody got (or tried) one of these 16\' or 18\' rods by Grauvell or Shakespeare?

They\'re supposed to add 40 yards to your cast, but are they practical for long range fishing?

wife has a shakespear 16- 8 , she does not use it much to big for her but i have tried it casts well but no good for bite detection if windy .

I was speaking to a guy on Brid harbour who knew what he was talking about when it came to casting (had backcasting rods etc). Amongst his collection he had a Shakespeare K2 and reckoned it was a joy to use - really light for it\'s length.

Hi rob, I bought a 13ft Grauvell in portugal at easter, Tested a 15 ft one, it felt a bit long for me, but the one I bought is top notch mate. Took a while before I tried it full belt, being used to Penns and Greys etc, but in all honesty i cant fault it. Not sure of the cost here, mine was 50 euros,. a lot cheaper than here. If ypu know anyone going to Portugal or spain, Id try one here, but buy from there.
Ideal for sandy bottoms, the portugese start with maybe 20 mtrs of 25lb line, then down to 15. for the mainline.
hope thats of help, or read my post \" Grauvell rod field test\" Ill top it for you.

the ppt copperhead is a good rod, slim butt, dont like the reel seat, godd rod for doggie bashing, it can handle the rough ground no problem.
