Lovely fish from Redcar

My uncle went fishing on Saturday gone (6th September) and caught a lovely fish

it weighed 4lb 8oz gutted and was weighed on two sets of scales at home.

In my oppinion Bass are the best eating fish in our waters as well as scrapping like crazy .

I managed a lovely deep cut in my hand when a fish kicked and it's gill raker caught me , mind you I got a great buzz letting it go .

I fully agree. Caught 10 of them in about 3 hours a couple of summers ago from the rocks at the north end (against the pier) of Sandhaven beach in South Shields. Nicest fish I've ever eaten. My brother reeled in two at one point, one on each hook of a pennel rig. Brilliant sport!!

i caught my first bass a couple of months ago and i really enjoyed the fight it gave me, but it was 1cm undersize so i threw it back, hopefully for next year.

i still feel guilty about it but when i was about 18 i fished cambois pipe with a carp rod and spinner. Honestly i must have had 40 bass in 2 hours, i kept 19 all size(wrong i know) which were verified by maff . Honestly the place was lifting with them!!!

every cast as soon as it hit the water!! probably best days fishing of my life!

That was the best place for them back in the day.

The best one i have had is 7lb 6oz and that was off the pipe then BANG
the pipe was gone and so was all them happy days.
