With the weatherman promising wall to wall sunshine on Thursday the plan was away from work as early as possible and fish until nearly dark......Weatherman was wrong with the late sun and that wind was a bit fresher than I wanted but I was out and wasn't giving in that easy.
Drift was a bit speedy with the wind but the drogue slowed it down to nice 0.5 knot, decided on hard ground off Souter for a change, fish steady through the evening, fewer of the small 1lb size fish but still a few around 2lb going back, had a nice box of 10 keepers all 3 to 4lb, nothing big but an enjoyable evening.

I had two very awkward days of Sunderland.

Wednesday I had no time whatsover and went at 10am straight to one well known 4mile wreck. I could do no wrong and boated 6 fish within 1 hour..4 cod, 1 ling, one pollock. Good stamp size with 4 of them over 6lb

Thursday I started 5am and loads of time and high expectations...steamed from wreck to wreck to wreck to wreck and struggled.
Fished for 10 hours and 30 miles and the total count was 8 cod and 3 ling.

Good side-news were about 20 mackies of astounding size caught at 7 miles

Fish were all on orange tiger twin tail on a hopper rig bouncing the bottom, lose a bit of gear at times but seems to find fish!!

Bet you were we'll fired up for a cracking day, pop out for an hour and find a nice stamp of fish, you gotta think what a great day you will have the next day and all day to play about as well! Sometimes that doesn't help, if you are on limited time you make a decision and stick to it, when you have loads of time you end up moving about trying to find em, all part of the 'fun' I suppose. Sounds like there are some big mackies about, hoping to have another look out early sat weather permitting, fancy getting a few for the BBQ sat night.

Funny that you mention it, we either caught on the Ruby/Custard or on luminous white shads.

I think the nice calm weather has ignited another algae bloom...the water was very green yesterday during the day. That had cleared a bit by afternoon, when you went out

Ha ha, must be my OCD! Everything has to balance and be nice and even! It's a good excuse with the boss because I have convinced her you have to buy rods and reels in matching pairs so the boat is finally balanced!!

Are you out this weekend Chris? Planning on an early shout in the morning as I am at graft Sunday

I get up early every day of the week, so i refuse to get up early on a weekend...but if its ok after dinner i'll be out then Dave..plus the marina gate wont be open till 2.00 afternoon...:)

Good to see you got back out amongst them again. :)

Nice haul of fresh, clean looking fish.

10 out of 10 for presentation :D

If the sea plays ball I might get out this afternoon, fingers crossed.
