bought some of these yesterday seems like strong hooks...just that when i tested the sharpness i find them not as sharp as sakuma mantas .....any of u tried these and what r ur opinions...i bought them on recommendation that they r very strong hooks...

These are N.E.T.S "specials". I bought 10pks on recomendation. I sat down 1 night to tie some traces and found 6 out of 10 hooks were bent, in another pack I came across 2 that had no eyes!
Cheap and chearfull hooks so can't really complain coz ya gets what ya pay for I suppose.
I'll stick to sakuma from now on tho:rolleyes:

Have a look at the Matzuo American Worm Hooks on Ebay very strong & sharp, put them along side the Sakuma and theres not a lot of difference i use the size 3/0 & 4/0 for my rough ground fishing ( Ideal )

john.

I love the varivas big mouth extras from veals mail order... similar to the sakuma's just stronger and sharper i have found. Brilliant in 2/0's for big worm baits, and 4/0's for when tipping with crab, squid or chunks of mackerel.

Highly recomend people to give them a try :)

bought some tronix big dogs from rutherfords they seem ok...will stick to sakumas til i order a lot of veals for the varivas and i will have a look on ebay too...cheers guys...thought i was being picky with the lunar hooks...

Like all cheap imitations currently on the market I find the lot of them difficult to have any trust in, How can Anyone put their faith in something that costs pennies to make! Stick to the real stuff is my advice or put it another way 10 breakaway fast links cost £1-80p .......100 of the copies cost £ 8-00p my golden rule is "if it's cheap it's s###e" enough said.

Sakumas arnt the best hooks either i have had them snap at the bend and they are not cheap hooks to buy.
I know other lads that have had the same probs and lost fish.

I have gone back to using vikings.

You are more than likely using Sakuma Manta, they do snap just where you have stated.

Sakuma Manta Extra are however a very strong, sharp hook and very pricey depending on size.

I agree with GerryBerry, we pay a fortune for rods, reels and bait yet certain anglers penny pinch on hooks, hooks are the link to the fish.

Super McGuire, veals variva's are manta extra.

manta xtras excellent hooks and will lift a good fish ;)

Got to agree with you Coddy , Manta Extras are sharp AND very strong. The standard Mantas though are prone to snapping at the bent, i lost the biggest fish ive ever hooked when both 4/0 hooks snapped at the bend. ok for small fish though.
