after visiting the nissan show got some bait (rag lug squid) and headed up to lynemouth after being inspired by micks report from earlier this week , got there at about 3 and fished through to 8.30 i was hoping for a codling so used a single big hook rig packed with a worm cocktail tipped with the squid , nothing
so swapped to a 2 hook flapper flatty rig and caught a flounder straight away but as it was starting to get dark i swapped the rig back over and after a few casts hooked into something that felt big but lost it near the shore nothing till the 2nd last cast i had a rattle started to reel in something that felt big im sure it wasn't weed because line went slack as if it was swimming towards the shore then back to bending the rod but when i got it to what i thought was the shore and turned my light on it was off , can anyone offer advise on trying to avoid losing fish ? and also it was mad windy up there and trying to spot bites was very difficult i had the rod rest low down (with a bag or rocks hanging under to stop it blowing over) the but cups on the floor & a heavy griper lead on but the tip was bouncing all over what do you lads do in this situation ?? many thanks davey
