it may be a lot but the sea is a big place, and the available places to fish for them is reasonably small. you could line every spot there is on the shore catching makky non stop and it would still be a drop in the ocean compared to the boats. not heard about the boats that literally hoover up thousands of tonns?

I think the ones we catch are the few that get away, you ar'nt going to get many trawlers fishing with nets 50ft off any local piers,, trawler under lined,, used to watch the T.V Prog filmed off Peterhead they were catching £250.000 worth of mackerel in a day or two, every day or two,, no way can local anglers take that amount in a week,,
