Headed to Newbiggin to try my spinning rod out some more and fished on the rocks down from golf course. Stayed an hour but decieded to move on as sea was a bit big for spinning so headed to Blyth pier as a back up. Pleased i did as i had 2hrs of great fun with the Mackeral. Only kept 6 for bait and eating and put the rest back. It was great to sea some of the kids with their dads catching fish and for one that was next to me it was his first time fishing. He well out fished his dad!!
It was also pleasing to see a large number of people using spinning rods and not just pulling in six at a time. (Loads still were tho) I have never seen as many people on the pier, it was almost shoulder to shoulder from one end to the other with fish caught all the way along.
One bloke who was bait fishing had two nice cod.

Well done mate, What size was the two cod the bloke had and do you now what bait he was using?

Lol Gregg, had a couple of hours on Blyth pier tonight also mate. Fished with KeithB and The Great Wallsendo, nice to meet you Tony ;).

If you think that was busy please don't go on during the winter months when there is a very big sea running. NO gaps at all and people sitting on each others knees comes to mind mate.

Jim.

Was good to meet you too mate - you and Keith.

My new telescopic lost it's virginity with 3 fish...kept two and chucked one back.

Keith caught 3 lost 3, Jim caught about the same - although I'm sure they'll say it went mental just after I walked off the pier with people catching on every cast.....;)

Fish now filleted and in the freezer to be either eaten or used for bait...

It was also good to see that there quite a few spinners being used at Blyth too

I wsh we could Tony, we left not long after you mate.
