is there any tackle snops in ncstle area could have a look at my mag extra .after about a dozen trips out its not as quiet or smooth as it used to be. cheers

either salt or sand in it if not may need new bearings or cleaned

It could just be (if the reel is pretty new) that it's time to oil the bearings - easy enough to do with the oil of your choice. If you're in any doubt, the man to see would be Ronnie at I D Fishing in Byker.

Also bear in mind that the Penns are fairly noisy reels anyway - I've got a couple of 525's and they're way noisier than any of my Daiwas & Abus. I've fished with some lads whose 525s really scream; just the nature of the beast I reckon.

Miine's as quiet as a church mouse, me mate's is too. On the other hand my 535 GS is noisy but that has the centrifugal brake blocks in.

cheers for the replies am going to attemp to clean the bearings and have a good step by step guide off the net .is there anywere local that stocks red rocket fuel.
