Fished until high water early this morning. Decent sea running with a steady northerly breeze. Very quiet for the first hour and a half with just a whiting and dab stuffing themselves on my cod baits. A lovely slack liner then results in a 4 pounder. Half an hour later, a couple of tentative pulls makes me pick up my rod, and as soon as I did it was nearly pulled out of my hand. A really good fight resulted in a fat Cod weighing 8lb 8oz. When I gutted her, she was full of roe and had had a good feast of a 6 inch Dab and 8 or 9 crabs.
