Massive Landlord plus Mackie Seas the Day 28/05/16

Well, guess what, out again at 7am on a Weekend morning in a pleasant sea and light breeze.

Is it the summer or is it a dream?

Well at 4 miles we decided to try the feathers and guess what, a string of 3 for Pete.

And we both thought that was a routine that would continue. WRONG, nothing more, not a sniff.

Well, those three fresh mackerel may have just provided the magic ingredient.

We tried 6 wrecks, heading East and North East from Sunderland. Water was more and more clear with distance, especially after 5 miles.

Only 2 wrecks produced, 1 a coddie around 5lb and then we hit the sort of feeding that you dream of with around 10 fish in 10 drifts.

First up was a cod of 9.5lb then various ling and smaller cod to 5lb.

And then wait for it the landlord, rod bent double and creaking, and various expletives, as it hit a red shad tipped with the fresh Mackie and it was fought up from 50metres.

an early season ling of around 24lb

weighed at home 23lb 9oz

a real monster from the deep that tried to eat my boat!

Message is clear. Get out there and get some! Thanks for viewing...

Well done

excellent result for you lads - that's a real cracker - travelled well north of the tyne and had nothing like that. Well done and a good report   :thumbup:

Wasabi (Norbert), my boat fishing mentor, sometimes uses my boat and me his (confusing, as both are converted Shetland 535s). But he wasn't out today with Pete and I (James).

Iye, nice to see good result. Dabbled about at the end of both the piers this afternoon in my kayak. I was hoping the odd mackerel would have made it that far inland already. But unfortunately not yet.
Really I should have know by the way there were no lager louts on the pier!

lovely fish

well done that's a cracking ling,
just shows what a bit fresh maccies can do
need them to turn up properly now and the weather to behave,
we aren't asking for to much are we ???
