i would advise you to look in to a local fishing club near you and maybe have a walk along a match venue and have a chat to lads there and pick up a few tips . Maybe fish the rnli comp thats on the 29 th and there will be lads there to help a bit cheers mark

Easy tip is to fish a match is to watch what other people are doing and ask lots of questions we are always very helpful and always giving advice as it costs nothing

Its the seaton sluice open fishing from seahouses pier to tynemouth pier from 10 til 2 pm low waters at 12.07 and its a big tide! 0.6 so lots of very low water marks that dont normally get fished! And its also gud to get outfishinthru the day! Its a completely diff experience!

One thing that puzzles me is how do you get your mark? In my river match fishing days we used to draw numbers for pegs. How do they do it at these big opens? For instance at South Shields do they draw for places on the pier according to the numbers? Sorry if this is a daft question.

In the opens its first person to the mark gets it mate no draws just a case of get there set up marks yours lol

Right, so do people kind of camp out where they want to be, get there early and wait for the start of the match ? Or do you all have to go to the reqistration first and then set off to the fishing ? I imagine it like the wacky races when everyone goes roaring off lol
