SOUTH Meadowell AC are holding a Boxing Day Open with fishing from 10am to 3pm. Registration is beside North Shields Fish Quay Ice Factory between 9am and 9.15am. Entry is £3 with 100% payout for first, second and third, plus a half bottle of whiskey for the heaviest flatfish.

There are no boundaries, but fishing is permitted in public areas only. For further details contact Ray on 0191 263 6508.

2lb 7 codling won it, not sure of the lads name, gary wilson was second with a codling for 2lb 3 (think that was the weight) and I came third with a coaley for 1lb 9 and the heaviest flatfish was 1lb 8
