I was having a mooch about online yesterday and come across a post on another forum about microwaving runnydown once defrosted. Its says between 10 and 20 seconds depending on the power of of your appliance ! There was pictures which showed the worm in the familiar runnydown state i.e. Sweaty sock and after a zap in the microwave the result was pretty impressive to say the least. So my question is has anyone tried this seemingly crazy method ?

i tried the method but added boiling water to them and they go similar grow in size as a test the other month but they lost a lot of juices, which may not spark a fish into taking the bait, cant help but feel your heating the smell out the worms by doing this though just my opinion like

Ive used the microwawe method and caught plenty fish on them. I do 3 at a time. Cover them with newspasper and microwave for 10 seconds at a time. Do it too long and they go brittle. Smells a bit like crab when there cooking. Oh.............. snap the tails off before u nuke them as the sand explodes. When i tell people what im using for bait, i usually get laughed at but they really do work!

It's boiling water over the top of them for me as I don't have a microwave - radical improvement on using them straight-from-frozen, they look good enough that you sometimes forget they were frozen & give them a slap! I've had plenty of fish on them as well so have no problems fishing with only runnydowns if I've no fresh worm.

Thanks for the sensible replies. I've always used runnydown as its handy to have in the freezer, I'll definitely give them a go like this, cheers.
