Ming Cottage - Whitley Bay

Sorry Tony but the only help I can give is relating to Stowell Street in Newcastle ,I reckon we've been to every one over the years , The King Neptune being our favourite .

Haven't been in there for a couple of years, but it was alright as far as chinese restaurants go.

Infact I haven't been anywhere for a couple of years!!!!

Think it's about time I started to get out more or even get out!!!!

Cheers

Tony

not sure I should admit this, but I read that initially as 'Minge Cottage' and thought, 'my ex must have moved'

I can definitely recommend Chengs Restraunt on the opposite side of the road to Ming Cottage. The set meals for four or more people are excellent.
Cheers

Cheers lads :)

Ming Cottage has been there for donkeys years...as long as I can remember which is well over 20 years (even longer from what I gather)...so I suppose that's a plus point - although I've never been in it.

Cheers Marty - looked at the Chengs website and started drooling :D...can you book a table in these places?

Sounds canny, decent of you to report back and let people know aswell, keep that one in mind next time we're looking for somewhere to go for a nibble.

Never been a big fan of Chinese food...but I've changed my mind, Restaurant is totally different to insipid Take Away

Plum Duck with Singapore Fried Rice is amaaazing :D

My fave was always duck stuffed with prawn meat ,mmmmmm .

Anyway you fat lads want to buck your ideas up :D:D.

I'm off the drink and still growing huger by the day

Weirdest thing I ever had (and have to admit to not liking), in a local hotel, was chicken breast stuffed with kipper, really interesting idea, tasted vile though!

We don't get out for sitty-down meals often, liked Kublai Khan in town though, more for the fun aspect of it, Balti House was lovely when we went there back in 1999.

Take-aways though if I'm paying for an Indians then I drive from Blyth to S/Delaval for Delaval Tandoori, been going there since the mid 80's and tried a few other places to my loss. Chinese, Chuen Lee at Delaval was always good. The one in Blyth next to the Waterloo pub isn't bad but not brilliant, however the price is well sorted if you're feeding a family that night.
