Here is our report from the east coast thanxs to JV
Sea anglers are an optimistic breed, well we have to be don't we, so many fishless hours endured in our quest for the dream catch, failure after failure disheartening us, but.... just now and then someone up above smiles down upon us, and keeps us going with a great days fishing.
Mission: Arbroath saw the Viking longship (Bigpaul's campervan
) beach in the vincinity of Arbroath, Scotland, for a battle with the cod that the area is so famous for. After a short but steep walk, the mark to be fished was picked. None of us had ever fished here before but our hopes were high as recent reports suggested that there were fish lingering in the kelp.
My first fish on my new rod and a great way to christen it, a nice 3lb 8 ounce pollack to my great surprise  I have never caught one of these fish during Winter time before.
The first Cod soon came in to my pal Big Gary, at a smidgen under 5lb. We were pleased to say the least.
Soon myself and Bigpaul began to catch a decent stamp of codling but the bigun's that we came for were eluding us
After an enjoyable few hours, time was called and we moved a couple of miles up the coast to a rock mark where bigger fish are regulary caught.
It wasn't long before Big Gaz was into some better fish. Dead jammy!
Biggest 7lb, with a couple nudging 6lb
A nice Cod for me
We caught 50lb of Cod, keeping a few for the table that were nice ones or deep hooked. Some were returned to fight again!
A cracking trip, Tightlines J.V.
