:) Slinky Kate catch report 26.02.11.

Nice one Rich, thought I'd maybe reported whilst asleep :o :o

As the thread title points out this was a mission accomplished today.
The mission - (which Tony and I accepted fully) was to get back into the routine of "Saturday Fishing" all in readiness for the coming season, the target, catchwise, was simple ...... a fish each ........
And of course :) :) it was achieved .... :)

February is rather early for the boat fishing season so when the chance of a lull in the weather came about we jumped at the idea, even in the knowledge that fish were of a rareity at the moment.
Not wanting to strain ourselves too much we opted for a 7.00am start (to coincide with tackleshop opening for bait :) )
so, off we went shortly after fuelling up (at the first time ever of over £1 a litre for RED diesel :o ).
Both Tony and I had a load of "new" toys to try but opted to leave most at home for this trip as it was difficult enough remembering where we stored the ropes never mind the intricacies of new tackle, rods and lures.

Sea was fine with not really a roll, the kind of sea that in 12 weeks time would be heaven to us all, but in February :) not quite, simply more cold and wet.

We had three things to do today :-
1 wake up slinky .... accomplished
2 test the new Garmin 556s GPS .... accomplished ...... phew ... so much info
3. Catch a fish each ..... pleased to say ... accomplished, not the biggest and certainly codling and not cod, but a few platesfulls of fish suppers nevertheless .......

All in all a great stolen day out long before we usually start the season, and we both experienced the catching of fish .....

as ever Tone cheers mate .....

no pictures I`m afraid, nothing out of the ordinary to photograph (which is exactly the way I'd like it on a first trip of the season)

other than maybe this ....... The Trip - by virtue of Garmin ......

Nice one, i never took a rod as same plan for me....fire the boat up and the outboard check it all over and test the gear, couple things to go then its fishing time.

Spoke with 3 other boats and they all said about the same, odd small coalie and odd 1lb-2lb codling...still apart from that rain it would have been nice to just get out. 3 weeks and counting :)

Aye saturday routine dusted off nicely - the one while still in the house needs tweaking a little IE sat on the sofa in underpants not quite understanding what it is I'm supposed to be doing, rubbing my eyes half asleep :D

Great to get back out there and nice to get a fish under the belt and get things started - cheers as ever Norman...see you next time ;):)

Well done on catching Norman and Tony :), not many did today . I slept in and decided to clean the oil off the deck and give the boat a bit of a spring clean...in the rain.
New GPS looks good Norm :), i see you've got the little balloon there with North Sea wrote in it, just in case you get lost..:D

and that was for a 7an start:Dwhat you going to do for daft oclock starts:question::D:D

i would be selective when posting virtual garmin mate - can you put fake tracks in to put others off the scent.

its getting exciting isnt it.

Oooh! fishing time again:D Must get out and wet a line , whether I catch fish or not will be another matter , but the crocuses are out and it's starting to feel like spring so time to do something about it :)
How does that snapshot of the track work Norman ? How do you get it from the plotter screen to the pc screen to be more precise :D

Bulbs are poking through in the garden, the first of the boat reports are appearing, at last Spring must be just round the corner :)

Well done Norman. A good first run out and a good write-up too. Here’s to many more.

Nice one Norm/Tony, everything running fine and new toys to play with, and fish for the pan.:) just need the fish to make a good apperance now...........and whe're off:rolleyes:

Mid May last year when it kicked off propa but sure we can all sneak a few out March and April..its a good start ad liek Norman says its still only Feb

Fantastic! A Catch report! I was just catching up on previous posts detailing blanks but enthusiasm has returned after reading your post! Fresh fish for tea. Can't wait to get up to Amble and clean Grolwer up and get her back in the water now.

Graham.
