Headed through the lock gates about 7 this morning to a better than expected sea, with only a slight swell, which slowly died off throughout the day.
First stop was a big wreck and before I could get tackled up and in the water my dad had already landed a nice codling and a pollack. After a few more drifts we added a few more codling and pollack to the tally before moving on to our next stop.
Next stop was a bit of rough ground and we were straight into a few smallish codling and mackeral, we could'nt seem to pluck any bigger cod out so we moved again, this time to another wreck and we were straight into a better stamp of fish with plenty cod up to 8 lb
aswell as the odd coalie and pollack. Somehow the word had spread and soon their was 4 or 5 boats on the wreck with us so we had a move to another wreck and left them to it.
The next wreck was only a small lump and I did'nt think it would be up to much, but it did us proud with ling and cod upto the 8 lb mark again nearly ever drift. It kept me busy with it only being a small lump, I had to keep bringing the boat around for another drift every 5 mins, but it usually paid off.
We were plagued with mackeral at one point and had a few drifts without getting down to the wreck at all.
About 2 ish the wind started to freshen a bit so we made our way back in, stopping off on route to try another wreck but only pouting were found and a few white caps started to appear so we headed back in, and listened to z germans giving us a whopping on the radio, while we were sorting the catch out.
Majority of fish were put back, kept half a dozen codling, a ling, a pollack and about a dozen mackeral.
I tried my best today to pluck a bigger fish out with a variety of shads, but ended up back on the hockies/ lures and pirk combo as my dad was cleaning up with his.
