Early start at 6am sail so alarm set for 3am. Packed all the gear in anticipation of a cracking days fishing with Richie the skipper and his mate Deano.
8 of us anglers dropped our Shads at first wreck but unfortunately fishing was very slow. Tried wrecks all over but for some reason the fish were not biting. There was about 10 fish caught during the day and biggest went to my mate Pierro with a codling of 6lb. I and two others blanked.
Got back in about 5pm feeling defeated and deflated-first time I have ever blanked at Whitby-but saying that it has happened at Craster before to me.
Highlight of the day was the pod of dolphins who swam around the boat, underneath and jumped out of the water.
Best shads of the day were white sandeel type.
