Nice one mate, pleased to see you got sorted, looking forward to your catch reports from Lazy Daze when the weather improves a bit, welcome to NESA.

Jim.

Nice boat , hope you have many happy days in her, how did you get on launching at cullercoats? I wouldn't mind trying a new place or two but some of the slipways look aweful to use.

Hi canman, nice outfit :), i was talking to you on blyth pier at the weekend about our rievers before you went off in search of bigger fish. You were right about the size of the gps, hope you get the hang of it mate.....

Canman, the Reivers are lovely looking boats and yours should fly with that outboard on the back. Make sure you get all the safety kit on there too and you’ll have some great days out fishing. I'll keep and ear open on the VHF for you and your catch reports.

Oldessox. I launched from Cullercoats a couple of times last year. The slipway has a tight dog-leg at the bottom which may be a problem if you have a long trailer. The sand can be a little soft and you have to driver over it at anything but high water. I struggled with the trailer sinking into the sand during recovery and ended up needing to let air out the tyres to spread the weight until I could move it. I spoke to someone with a similar boat but lighter trailer and said they routinely pull the trailer from the water on a rope without any problems. It was too much for me though.
Access is through a locked gate which you pay the lifeguard to open. There is a life guard hut next to the lifeboat station that opened from the last bank holiday in May last year. You can either pay per day to launch or buy a pass for a year which was about £44. If you get a yearly pass, you get a key for the gat so you can launch at any time, otherwise you’re tied to launching and recovery during lifeguard hours.

Thanks Kev1n , as i suspected , it's not for me I think. I'll stick to Amble marina for a while and maybe get away somewhere else later in the year.

Cheers

Thank you every one for your warm welcome. I have a Freelander 4wd so launching isn't usualy a problem, but is so much easier about half tide down, as there is a nice slope on the beach and the sand is firmer. Quite a few people launch their boats using cars on the beach and a legnth of rope. I usualy fish at anchor around the yellow bouy about a mile of Whitley beach with lug in the run up to June, then switch to peeler which often sorts out the better fish.
The boat is now called, Lazy Daze. cheers, Arthur.
