My weekends fishing

Hi lads, I seem to have lost my mojo lately when it comes to finding those cod. I'm sure it'll be on it's way back soon. lol

Anyway headed up to Beadnell and Nacker hole in Northumberland on Friday night, things were very slow but I did have four good bites that properly slack lined and I'd have put money on catching those fish. Not to be though and I ended this session with a solitary coalfish for my efforts, was a big one though, 2lb'ish.

Nacker hole, a right knacker this time round!

Still had a bit of bait left on Saturday so decided to get stuck into the BSA species race.

Headed for South Shields big beach, easy for me and a great place to catch a few different types of fish.

Just getting dark when I arrived and the dog walkers were leaving the beach for the fishermen. Had 3 hours here down to low water and it turned into a tidy little sesh, double shots of flounder, whiting and a few coalies. Lots of action but nothing bigger than a pound and a half.

A smile on my face and still a small amount of bait left I decided to have a few hours down the Tyne the following morning.

Things started off slowly here but as the tide picked up, the whiting and flatties began to bite, again lots of fish with the added bonus of a coalfish.

So although the cod were a let down this week, I did manage 8 flatties, 16 whiting and 5 coalies, all caught using 4 bags of rag and a packet of bluey!

Up and running in the species race but bring on the cod next time please. Tightlines, Dave.

well done mate atleast u gave it a go, what is the best way 2 get to the nacker hole i always seem 2 end up on the skeers infront of the camp site as i am not sure of the marks?

Drive along the sea front wall at Beadnell Johnny, you'll see a big white house on your left just before your not really allowed to go any further in the car. Park there where the yellow lines end. Walk along the edge of the white house's garden up and over a grassy dune and the skeer and hole will be just on your left.

I'll add a pic or two in a min for you.

The white house, park at this spot in the pic

Here's what the rocks are like on a nice day.

Best in winter after a storm but when it's safe to fish. Great in summer for wrasse and the odd cod. Hope this helps mate.

cheers mate think i recognise that house looks a nice mark 2 fish think i may give it a go after a dieing sea, is it usually the crab baits that do well up there?

Top marks to you mate for sharing information like that, and excellent photos to enhance it. Never fished Beadnell myself, but I might have a day of two up there in the summer float fishing.
Cheers.
