Alan
I fished it a few times years back with John Brennan on Achates. There were usually plenty of fish on it, but it is very rough, often getting snagged with fish on well up from the seabed. Because it's so heavy on gear, I think John used to use it as a bit of a "get out of jail" when the fishing was hard elsewhere.
By coincidence I was looking at Hydrographic report for this mark recently - it's 5000tons, & when it went down (it fell off a barge in bad weather) it was breaking the sufrace in 60-70m of water. I checked out what a "Jacket" looks like on the 'net & it's the bit that the oilrig platfrom sits on, massive tubular structure, so add a few lost nets & there's no wonder it's as rough as it is.
Be interested to hear if anyone else remembers fishing it.
Cheers
Mart
