not a fresh water bod, only had a few shots and many years ago. thought i'd get a break and take the tent to kielder for an early start tomorrow - to find they wanted £23 i think it was for single day permit/licence, £12 for a couple hours boat hire - couldn't get the permit until Leaplish opens at 8am and boat was 2pm unless there was any spare. asked about camping and told the place I used to go to in my late teens was still there in the old village - £15-£20 for a single night pitch of the tent for me on my own. Rubbished it and came home.

Got 2 tubs of brandlings, now debating where to go that allows worms and is sensible priced but but too far for tomorrow - anyone know what the place on the run between Ponteland and Belsay (HighHam?) is like? Gonna google it and freshwater licence info.

picked up a year licence this morning, some little pond at Burradon was mentioned by a neighbour, but I couldn't find it even after asking some locals. Went to Killingworth but wasn't if that is free, was covered in swans anyway. Was going to try the sundial on cobalt next to my office but had heard a rumour that it can't be fished anymore.

going to look at what is free on the Wansbeck and Blyth as they are near.

Its off the road that runs from Whitley Bay to Tynemouth (just above the sea front road) and is opposite the Quarry Inn, Marden Road South, Whitley Bay . Lewis's tackle shop, Oxford Street, Whitley Bay may be able to answer questions on permits etc. Hope that helps:)
