Has anybody heard of these.
Just bought a lovely reel from the tackle shop in Ch-Le-St. Reel almost identical to an Abu 6500.The Nerus 6000 cost £40. Years guarantee

Aluminium spool.
Rigid chrome plated brass frame.
Smooth main gear applied star drag.
Dual centrifugal mechanical brake system.
Selective on/off ratchet
2 stainless ball bearings and 1 clutch bearing.
Counter balanced handle.

Thought about a new abu 6500 but the thought of mass production in China put me off. Also did not really fancy second hand in case of faults etc.

Mick. Almost forgot loaded with 12 lb line and tapered leader. Down at my local park and tried casting. 80 strides so say 240 feet give or take a few.
It will do for my second rod.

i would use it with the level wind on mate, probably after a year or so the level wind will feck up anyway then you can take it off (this happens with abus's too).

It does look identical so an abu conversion kit might work?

I want to keep the level wind on. Just wanted a nice light reel to lob the bait out just behind the breakers. I,ve got the supermag on the other rod for the distance.

I much prefer the fishing light approach. Lesson learnt this season watching other anglers.

Dabcatcher (Bill) let me use is Abu 5000 last time we were on Steetly. Light line-Lovely reel but 6000 - 6500 size appealed to me more.

Couple year ago bought a Abu 5500 off a mate. It was the gold colour high speed retrieve. Did not like it and sold it on flea bay.

I,ll keep my old 7000 in the box for any rocky ground.

Mick.

Havent a clue but probably China like the abu,s.

Tried it today down at Hartlepool and it did ok.

Nowhere near as good as my Penn Supermag Extra but ok for a second reel. Noticed on the retrieve it was slow so lost my leader and rig on some rocks. Never mind its ok for sand bottoms.

Mick.
