OK folks here it is. The challenge is to catch as many different species of sea fish as possible by rod and line from the shore before the end of 2012. No prizes involved just a bit of fun. Download the card below, print it out, write your forum name on it and take it out fishing with you. Photograph each species alongside the card and post it on this thread.

Download the card here http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/ae6/Dean-Curtain/SpeciesHunt.png

A few basic rules to keep everything straight ....

1. Catch as many different species of sea fish as possible. Each species type scores one point on the table.
2. All fish must be caught by rod and line from the shore. Any tactics, baits or lures may be used. Fish caught by boat/kayak etc are not eligable.
3. Fish can be caught anywhere within the UK.
4. The challenge starts at 0.01am April 1st 2012
5. The challenge ends at midnight December 31st 2012.
6. To register a fish post a photograph of it on this thread with the 2012 card beside it in the picture.

Here is the score table. This will be updated everytime someone posts their photos .....

Yes you can submit catches now. The early bird gets the worm and all that, or in this case the fish :) Well done lads you are the first on the table.

andy i think we shud start the date that is actually written on the card 1st april-31st december ..just give the others a early chance :D:D:D

Exactly mate, the hunt should started on the date that is patented onto the card that was specifically made for this comp, the cards been made very well be 'wheres-the-fish?' to say the most. :)

Either way coddie mate we can always fall back on that ever useful saying, "theres plenty more fish in the sea"... and in the tyne, wear, rockpools! :D ;)

theres enough species out there to keep us busy till winter im sure :D

the thing is will i ever get another tadpolefish :D

There's always a chance you'll get another one mate.

Everytime I go fishing I live in ambition, I'm always ambitious as you never know what you might catch and what's out there, so the possibilities are endless in my case amd everyones case. Just have to believe its always possible mate. :)

Yeah we could do that but there would be nothing stopping people photographing fish now and waiting until April 1st before posting them so fish caught early could still end up being entered anyway. It's only two weeks away but if the majority prefer to wait until 1st April that's fine and I could reset the leaderboard. Let's have a vote then. What do you all think ? Start now or wait until the 1st ?

start from date shown atleast whats already entered will be easy to catch again surely ;)

sorry lads ya,s are just keen mean fishing machines :D

I vote also to begin the species hunt at the stated date given on the card, gives everyone a fair start and fair chance.

Sorry scotty but rules are rules :p ;)
