Guys did it- i,ve upgraded from my starter kit which i bought from the Derwent 2 seasons back.
Been on Gary Evans website and bought a Greys GRX I reel 7-8.£49.99.
Two Masterline power head fly lines £29.99 each (buy one and get one free).
Intermediate wf 7 and fast sinking WF 7.
And a couple of backing lines.
what the hell i can,t take it with me can i.

The next item will be an upgraded rod i fancy one of the sonics sk4 or a greys. I,ll be looking at this from the shop up at the Derwent reservoir because you also get a free days fishing.(so in effect its like £20 off).

Mick. (wheres me visa).

Garry is a canny bloke mick mate, quite a few times when i have been visiting family in cardiff i have called in to the shop for bait and odds and ends for when i go for the hounds at aberthaw, always have a cuppa with him.Well done on ya upgrade mate, bet ya getting a dab hand at it now

Jimmy its like out else when i do something start with cheaper stuff to see if i like it then upgrade. I started back sea fishing with a telescopic beachcaster and some crap reel. Then i got a second hand abu rod and reel off flea bay for under a ton then i pushed the boat out and got a supermag extra and a nice suveron beachcaster.
Our lass calls me a tackle tart. All the gear and no idea thats me.

Jason i,m waiting for the weather to pick up before i start trying other waters. Will be having a look over sometime.

John i tried the sonic sk4 up at the Derwent a while back-Clive the ranger even put his reel and line on. Was impressed with the rod.Lot firmer than the one i have at the moment. Also liked the thumb groove in the cork-looks a good rod.

Jimmy your right about the shop. Stuff came today. Instead of intermediate line they put floating in. When i rang up the lad on the phone - Martin apologised and is sending me some top dollar intermediate. He said just keep the floating.
If thats not good service or what.
Mick.

I'll give another thumbs up for the Sonik - I got the SK4 7-8wt after looking at some of the Greys rods. I think it's a lot better than the similarly priced GRXi rods, more on a par with my mate's Platinum XD (which is about 3 times the price) - even he concedes that the Sonik's every bit as good. Now I've just got to catch something on it!!!

Gary :)
