getting my new kayak delivered next week,just wondering if theres anyone that goes fishing off shields on the yaks,caus to be honest i would prefer to tag along with a few more experienced kayakers until i get a bit confidence fishing from the yak,anyone willing to let me come along,i would appreciate it alot.cheers.

Hi Mate, there are quite a few of us just over the river who go out a fair bit, whitley bay, blyth areas, Jeff01Kayak is from your side but he is often out with us.

You will love fishing from the yak, fantastic way to fish and great when your out

What kind of yak are you getting and is it from this country asi am trying to import a ocean kayak direct but finding ita bit of a nightmare!

all ocean kayaks are usually imported by johnson outdours lowestoft
dont think you will get one that way unless its second hand
plus you may get stuck by the import duty jeff

I'm fancying one mysel, what's the basic initial start up cost before your afloat.

2nd hand full set up can be anywhere around £500 up to around £700 for a good set up. All kayaks are different in value and it all depends what is included in the price (fish finder/GPS/anchor trolley/kayak trolley/dry suit etc etc). You have to look at what is on offer and decide if its worth the asking price. Plenty of free advice from alglers that do it so dont be scared to ask. Keep an eye on the kayak sites 'for sales' sections and you will get a good idea of how much things sell for.

Ratty, You would be alright in a kayak so long as it was build like the Esso Northumbria but then again your arse is that shiney you would probably use it as a slipway.
