To Buy or Not to Buy?
Opinions Please on the Daiwa Kenzaki Braid Boat or a Shakespeare Ugly Stik. Maybe a new reel to go with the rod I like my level wind so was looking at the Daiwa Saltist again opinions most welcome.

Well i have nothing new for the start of the season so somebody on the boat needs something to play with, i am setting myself the task of not buying anymore gear until i either break or sell the things i have already.

i got a new toy - a penn waveblaster evo rod cant wait for the new season - seems a long long way off yet though.

all the best lads.

75 days away give or take a day until i start on the rough ground, thats if the boat not sank by the time this shocking winter is over.

Only thing i have bough this year is some penn braid and some skate traces along with a kidney harness.

Just bought an SK4 Boat Rod today, just need some decent weather and some fish to show to try it out.
The Ugly Stick rods are great, i've used them for years, with the fibre glass percentage in the tip you can pull on them when you're fast without them exploding, like my Salt Braid one did ( nothing to do with being bad tempered ).

Richy, you forgot to mention loosing overboard or bouncing of the deck:rolleyes:. Still undecided might splash the cash on lead and a spool of rubber just to make them bounce that bit further.;)

i have the kenzaki nice rod had it about 4 years now cant fault it also just bought a sonik sk4 braid teamed it up with abu toro winch 60 reel light as anything used this week on wrecks exellent tip for shading first 12 inches bends then it just locks up would recommend to anybody

Hi Sid
I've been using the Kenzaki Braid for the last two seasons and I can't find fault with it. Nice and light and sensitive but still plenty power when you need it.
I use it with the Shimano Charter Special 2000 LD Reel loaded with PowerPro Braid. A cracking all round combination with lever drag and the level wind you are looking for.
I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with either.
