New rod

Decided to try a continental set up, partly because of the ease of casting, for my bad back, (and partly cos I like buying new stuff!).

Went for the new Leeda Icon FS Sport Continental 15ft. And using a 7000 Surfblaster with 12lb mono.

Not sure when I'll be out to use it yet, but hopefully a catch report will follow.

:D

Considered putting braid on, but have used braid in the past when I had the 6&bait, it definitely helps with distance and was fine off the pier but I don't like it on the beach - with no stretch, every wave just bangs it down and drags the lead about, so went with the light mono instead.

Defo a good idea with the mono then. Maybe get a spare spool loaded with braid for if the sea is flat as another option.

If love to know what our lads says about you spending all this money on kit!?! Is that like 20+ rods now in 2yrs of fishing? Haha

Love the set up bud, just bought meself a 15ft rod n a affinity 7000 spooled it up with 30lb braid, boy does it go:o.Love the idea with thin mono, some of the lads dwn ere are on the super thin mono's,.28mm sometimes less,ok for clean sand but no good for mxd/ruff :rolleyes:Liking the braid myself, but no good if it's ruff imo, just don't like all that bouncing about mallarkey, think then it's better with the mono.Great in flat/settled weather, love the bite's on the braid, even pin ytin pull that tip round:D.
Good luck with the new set up.....
