New to boat fishing

Hi folk, I'm new to boat fishing even though I make boats as my job. I took the plunge and bought small 14ft solar (similar to a dejon),busy doing it up at present hoping to complete everything by march then add 15hp outboard on it. Will be sitting VHF radio cert etc before I head out but just wanted to get ideas of where or how limited I'd be fishing the Blyth area etc.

Welcome to the site mate , good to hear you're taking the VHF course and maybe have an RNLI Seacheck done once it's complete, just to make sure you're going to sea as safe as possible.
Sure you'll get some answers about the Blyth area off the lads

Where's best to do radio test etc is it hard, know the basics just what picked up at work

hi mate welcome to the site:exclam:vhf good might pay to do rya level 2 if you aint had much sea going experience.

however i suspect you have been around boats other than just making them:exclam:

at 14ft you will need to keep a close eye on weather conditions

anyhoo enjoy post the progress of the boat and the fash when you get them

Not planning on going too far out just so we can get into more fish than what can from beach, mates taking my out to grave yard when he gets chance, wherever that is, not in my boat tho lol

I recon them boat bell sinkers would be ideal for the graveyard straight to the bottom of davey jones locker

Welcom to the site, and the wonderful world of boat fishing. There's some good advice above.

I did my VHF ticket at the Blyth's Royal Northumberland Yacht club. Better still, have a look on the RYA website, there’s a training section which lists locations. Find A Training Centre | Learning | Courses & Training | RYA

Where are you launching from; there’s limited access around Blyth? Slips are available at Cullercoats and South shields or further north up the coast.

Didn't know there was a test place at Blyth, sat mine a south Shields a long time ago. The test is not hard at all, everyone who takes the test passes.

Fishing in a small boat is fine as long as you are sensible and keep an eye on the condititions, a squall can hit very very quickly, so whatch for heavey dark clouds aproaching. Allways wear a life jacket, vhf radio, mobile phone, spare fuel, and in date flares, and an anchor and chain with plenty of rope.
Just use common sense and you'll be fine. Good luck with the project.
