Hope this is in the right section. Basically me and my mates were talking a few months ago and the subject somehow turned to fishing and that it couldnt be 'that hard' well after spending money on gear then blanking twice at kielder, i asked another angler what we were doing wrong. He put us right and we have been hooked ever since.

What im wanting to know is where would the best place to go be? For shore or pier fishing? I managed to pick up a cheap beachcaster and reel for pennies so im ok but the other lads have got course rods and reels. So big fish are out of the question. (For now anyway) or where a big cast is required. Any suggestions? Today i had my first go as sea fishing and managed 3 mackerel after been helped out by another angler.

My other question is... what do i do about trying to get a dog fish in the north east? They are really stunning!

Hope i dont come over as sounding a little thick. But if you dont ask you dont learn.
Thanks

There's loads of rigs in here mate. Including the pulley rig. Hope it helps.

That is brilliant mate. Just made a practice rig and it looked perfect.

So whats it like at seaham? Wanting to chace the dogfish. Ive got some frozen strips of mackerel from my catch yesterday as bait. Where would be the best place to go? And is it free or is there a charge?

Thanks in advance

You need to be a member of seaham angling club to get a key for seaham pier mate. My mate got one off roker pier a few weeks back when we were night fishing. It was a canny size as well.

Might give roker a go then. I wouldnt go often enough for it to make sense to be a member. Will it matter what time of day i go?

I have nee idea about a time for that mate. If owt id say there wasnt a right time for it. It was pot luck when my mate got that one.

Bluey will out fish Mackey all day long for
Doggies more oils in bluey

The one my mate caught on roker was on either bluey by its self or bluey/rag on same hook. I can't remember which one. So I reckon your right. The doggies will have to be quick though cos the flatties like it as well :)

Best bet is to travel over the west for doggies. Whitehaven isn't that far away and the dogfish are seen as a nuisance over there so plenty to catch

Good to know for next time. Already set the date and time for the boys to decend on roker on tuesday. At least ive done some research this time. Unlike the first time i went fishing for trout using a spinner with carp bait stuck on all 3 trebles.
