:rolleyes:just curious about night fishing from my boat which is in h'pool marina, any tips and is it worth the effort? or should I just stick to daylight fishing

I fish in the dark 90% of the time in the winter months when home.
Go out in daylight to see where the dhans are, give yourself plenty of room for picking up your anchor . Watch your forecast and tides for getting in the lock.
Take someone with you.
Headlight is a must.
Nice and slow coming in.

i was out 3 times in the last 5 days...twice during the day and once at night...all uptiding

absolutely no difference in the catch

night has got its charme though and also this time of the year: it is night most of the time.

What's it like at night Norbert? I've always fancied giving it a go, but just a bit wary on the safety side of it with a small boat

James said its like sitting on a pier

safety...I think Sunderland waters are safe because there is not much ship traffic.

i also have 3 big floodlights to spot lobsterpots. i do 15kn+ at night, no bother...

i probably would have no problems fishing out at the wrecks at night but always felt that they are better during the day.

uptiding is usually less than a mile from the pier and no real worry.

suppose its like driving your car at night{in dark}.as said just make sure you have plenty lights.ps,know nowt about boats.
