Non-rusting pliers

I had a pair of old ABU (1970's) pliers that really stood up well to salt water corrosion - but I lost them.

My suspicion is that a lot of so called stainless steel pliers on the market will rust like hell so I am looking for some advice for a good make/model to replace my old ones.

Any advice is much appreciated !

i've had a pair of ordinary steel pliers for years I just give them a rub over with sum oil and oil the pivot now and then and they keep going,

I've got some cheap halfords ones and do as mentioned above. Never had a spot of rust

No such thing unfortunately as rustproof when it comes to seawater,from the most expensive tools to the cheapest ones.Wash any handtools,pliers etc in freshwater after a session,give them a scrub with a wire brush now and then and oil joints and coat spray metal surfaces with wd40,before you put them away regularly between trips.

Will last years,even cheap pairs,but they tend to ware out quick and lose cutting edges,compared to a quality set.Being the main tool of my trade and working in jobs surrounded by and in seawater found this is the only solution to this problem with any handtools.

What Raptor1 said. I give mine a rub and a coat of wd40 after every use, all my tool are rust free.

I've got a pair of mustad kvd pliers. They are toppa. Pliers, crimping pliers and the carbide line cutters are the best I've used all in one tool. Nothing beats them for cutting braid.

I got these from ebay / china and I was quite surprised with them I have only gave them a wipe and I cut off the front split ring tip so the are just long nose pliers, nice pouch as well. I have been using them for about a couple of months. (Got forgotten in a pocket for a week :red: good as new)

I've got a good quality leatherman multi tool and that needs to be cleaned and oiled to keep it in order.
