Northumbria Police hosted this years regional comp' held at Blyth beach fished over low water 4pm - 8pm. The scoring was as per the SAMF score chart with everything 18cm and above scoring points. 8 x 4person teams took part from Northumbria, Durham, Cleveland and West Yorkshire. Unfortunately for various reasons two teams were down on numbers.

Each team had a member in each of the coloured zones and the total combined zone points decided the team placings. The individual placings were decided from the highest score of points awarded for fish downwards.

Right from the start flatties started to show with Graham Lund from West Yorkshire managing to land a double shot with a 44cm Flounder (biggest flat fish) and a Turbot. The flatties continued to show all the way along the beach during daylight. Once darkness fell some small Codling, Coalies and the odd Whiting showed. The biggest round fish was a Whiting for Chris Ray from Cleveland.

Overall individual Ian Jackson had a good run of Flounder which won his zone. His team mates also did their bit by gaining another zone win and 2 x third places. Well done to all the winners and thanks to everyone who made it there.
