Mad as a fish

Well-known member
Got to Frasers about 3 hours before high tide, bait rag and lug at first i was getting plenty bites and the hooks were stripped for the first hour so i changed my hooks to 2/0 Aberdeen's my favorite ones then i had a run of small fish was a total of 8, 3 coalies,4 tommy, cod, and a fish i did not recognize i have a pic's on my phone i will try to upload maybe tomorow in a new thread.
All in all i had a nice day out and some sport it felt like old times two rods on the go, bite after bite just a shame they were not the same size as the ones i used to catch there 30 odd years ago but i will sleep well tonight and dream about the big one.
If your thinking of going if you cant clime over a fence and get your tackle box over as well dont bother:).

Glad you gave it a bash you will get the odd big fish there i have had some great sport over the years. You will have the odd session were you catch 3to5 1lbto3lbrs in the summer just depends whats in front of you. i took my friend and he was a total novice couldn't cast at all he cast out messed it up and said that will do and sat down i said Gab you are only about 10 yards and laughed. He had the last laugh as he wound a 5lb cod in lol i was gob smacked still got the pic have a look and glad you had a canny session happy days

just a type of blenny mate, av had that type in the wansbeck at this time of year, possibly spawning time.

would like to know the exact type though because its not a common blenny.

Sounds like ya had a great session mate blanked on the Tyne today myself not even a single bite, using lug and macky. Interesting fish and a quick google shows it is an eelpout, never even heard of them never mind actually catching summit like that in the Tyne. Eelpout

Hi Pete,
If I go to fish the Tyne Fraser's for example i start 2 hours before high water and 2 hours down depending on how much bait i have, seems to fish better then and less snags, something i learned 30 odd years ago.
Hope your next sesh if not a blank matey.
Thanks for the link its definitely one of those good picky in the link.

yeah, your fish is a viviparous blenny... just a type of blenny that give birth to live young, very smooth with no scale.

Had some big ones of around 40cm in length from the mill dam with a big gut on them when they are pregnant
