Fished the Northumbrian open about fifty yards to the North of Cullernose. The fishing was pants to say the least even with fresh crab, live razorfish and fresh yellowtails, I didn't even get a sniff all match neither did my brother who was fishing with me. The only fish I saw landed was a small codling early on. I also cried all the way back to the car after losing seven sets of gear!
After recharging the stomach with Sunday dinner at my mam's we headed up to Newton as with the wind freshening we did'nt want it in our faces as the original plan was to fish lyne burn. We fished the south corner of Beadnell beach before it got dark with micky getting a small undersized flounder. Just before it got dark we moved onto the Chair to join Colin and Darren who had had a couple of undersized coalies. I had a cracking bite first cast in the darkness but got hung up and lost it. After that it was bites every cast to the fresh crab baits. I ended up with three coalies and an eel. One of the coalies was sized along with the eel to give me just over two pounds to weigh in.
