Hi , Iv just got a Conoflex DC8 ( what an absolute beast , think you could cast a house brick with it !)which i'm going to give a bit of rebuild then have some fun with it. I was just wondering if any of you guys have an old favorite from the 70s , 80s, 90s which maybe you still use and how you rate them :)

Hi there, I have a collection of old Abu 484,s. Two cork handled 484,s, a foam handled 484 mkii, a 484 C and a 484CS. All of them are from 1976 through to 1981 or so. I love them, they still cast well (the 484 was the first rod to cast in excess of 220 yards back in the 70,s). They are great to fish with, not as stiff as modern rods but with much better feel and superb bite detection. There is plenty of life left in the old school stuff !

Dc6 & dc8 were great rods
But my favourite was my amorphous whisker Kevlar diawa
Was a fool to sell it bout 5 year back for £25

the 484c was the first rod with carbon, only in the tip though. i had one for years and loved it.

i had one of the original 7000s. the aluminium side plates corroded dead easy. i painted mine a different colour each year until i added a pair of 7000c brass side plates. i sold it after 40 years for more than i paid for it. wish they still made reels like that.

I still have my Century Tiger, if anyone remembers them.
Rod I learned on, not the best Century I have to say! But its more sentimental value, it has not been used in a few years

Conoflex DC8 HouseBrick+Bait, the ultimate 'Beast' lol.

Hope you enjoy it m8, should've said you was off NESA I would've chucked in a few Jarra' cobble stones to start off your sinker collection lmao.:p

8's are great but for all round fishin' my fa:heartpump:orite is still my trusty DC6(Cod Six) 8'+4' .;)

Its an awful rod tbh! It hasnt aged well. Id have it rebuilt as its in a bit of a state but its really not worth it, will always do for a spare.

That said...come to think of it my best shore cod was caught on that rod.

greys Jupiter which I bought off me pal in 1995 very light rod but very stiff and you could use it anywhere "was still using it up to last year but the tip snapped was gutted :(

love my old conoflexs got 2 dc6 semi carbon and five as well as a dc8 all rebuilt and all fished with

Forgot this one, my first Zziplex bought in January 1991 and cost me £170. Still take it out regularly especially in the summer, lovely rod to fish with and will still put a bait a long way if I need it to (though it feels very soft compared to my Synchro):
