Abit of a late report but here I go, went out on the kayak off haven rocks on Saturday morning just on the start of the flood as it was a huge tide it was quite a walk to get to the waters edge but was soon ready to launch I only had the one rod with but I then regretted not taking the spinning rod as I will explain later
bait wise I used fresh rag and blacks which I got from lewis tackle which was in excellent condition and used a 2 hook trace I paddled out about 400 metres out and about 200 metres off the pier and dropped anchor and straight away it was straight in the fish I landed a nice plaice of 1 lb then lots of undersized whiting a coleys.
Then moved to try new grounds then dropped anchor again then straight into a nice pollock just over 2 lb
I was using the hummingbird fishfinder and it was constantly going crazy I then foul hooked a lovely sized mackeral that's when I knew I should have taken another rod or atleast carried some daylights !!! It then went quiet for nearly 2 hours just getting the odd knock now and then but as high water approached and just off haven rocks I had a good bite then struck into it and my rod was bent over u knew it was something nice on as it got closer there was a nice cod just under 8 lb on the top trace and anotherof 3 lb on the bottom trace.
So lucky I had my landing net as the 8 lber was just lip hooked and nearly lost it
so with that catch I called it a day ad I lost my anchor on the retrieve so had no choice but to call it a day, so it was quite a good day as I would have never thought of going off there on the kayak
I took pictures but don't know how to upload them on here but I will be going afain soon as once I get another anchor
