One Day Maybe !!!

After being hindered with engine trouble last weekend while the sea was nice and flat.

We headed out early this morning to the marina and loaded the boat up, it was a decent forcast so we were looking forward to a day out, but it was'nt to be again.

One of the lock gates had broken down so nobody could leave the marina, or get back in.
A part is supposed to be coming today to be fitted, so may get out tomorrow, but if the part does'nt come it won't be fixed till monday was the word on the street.

Not sure when the lock gate broke, wonder if any boats made it out earlier on and can't get back in !!!

Fingers crossed it gets sorted today.

Blood ell martin what a situation ... :o:o:o worse still for anyone whos out.... is there a waiting pontoon outside gates or does it bottom out , especially since we're in big tides at the moment.

norm

No waiting pontoon Norman, it gets very shallow in the channel, probably dry out today.

Theirs another mooring (kafiga) not to far from the marina thats 24hr access, but you have to pay to moor up.

We've anchored up round their once or twice when its been canny bad sea's and we could'nt get into marina for the low tide.

Was just going to post that, we went out with the plan to only fish the rough ground anyway, gave up after an hour 2.1 in reached for us. We seen shady heading in about 10.45am.

Taken my gear off the boat now so unless we get a smooth day with no wind from now until the 15th of Oct thats it for me for this years wrecking.

I know the Flamer2 is stuck outside the lock. He reckons they wont get the gates repaired till Monday and has arranged an outside the lock pickup for his two parties this weekend.

Pretty shocking that the marina cant sort a 24/7 breakdown cover on something that is so important to their business. I bet they have a few unhappy customers by the end of the weekend.

John, myself and Oblikta are travelling very early monday for a shark hunt in Donegal so he has had to arrange someone to bring his boat in and moor it up for him on Monday. He has had is eyes glued to wind guru as the boat is anchored outside the harbour due to big tides and it is vunerable if the wind gets up.

LOL...a new post as I typed this!

Cheers
Dave

Just rang marina to double check the lock gates are working and they are.

Think they had a bit of chew earlier but it was sorted.

Bet it was a pain for the charter boats tho.

Hopefully all sorted now tho, al find out early in the morning tho, gonna head out if sea's not to bad and anchor up if tides a pain.

Just spoken to John from Flamer2 and he said he is back in so can now concentrate on his holiday :)

Makes you wonder what would happen if that had happened on a calm sunday afternoon. There would have been loads of small boats out...what would they have done?

Wonder if a charter skipper who was not out friday will get compensated for the loss of earnings for not getting out today?

Did it happen on Friday like Dave ?

I, dodgy situation, would have to try kafiga if they had room.

Recon they should have a log flume type of set up for emergencies lol
