Hi lads had a drive up to Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland yesterday with pal Gary. With seas pretty flat I hoped the deep water off the point would produce some cod for us.
Not expecting loads of fish as things have been dire all over lately we decided to set out our stall for the day and chuck out big fish baits of bluey in the hope of that one big fish, one would do us today.
Things were pretty quiet for a while with the odd coaly rattle and smaller fish biting and we both landed small codling of a pound and a half and smaller coaly to. Around four hours into the session Gary's rod thumps over signalling a better fish taking the bluey and low and behold Gary gets a new pb.
A six and a half pound cod, we were made up.
Well done Gary a great catch mate and I'm sure on our next visit up there you'll break that new pb to.
