Parton Beach Hartlepool 26/08/10

With a decent surf running onto the beach I decided to have a go at Parton beach down Hartlepool way this afternoon. HT was 5:30 and I got to my mark about half three after picking up what I have to say was some cracking ragworm from Friarige Tackle on the Headland.

Soon got set up but took me a while to get fishing as a couple of local lads who had been on the Carling all afternoon chose that moment to go for a swim right in front of me  Still I got a laugh out of it when one of them found that swallowed sea water and Carling don't mix and proceeded to honk his guts up good and proper. Mmmm - groundbait - lovely...

The prelim entertainment over with I managed to get down to fishing. Things were pretty quiet and I'd had a couple of chucks with no interest when Dizzy-Daz came along, shortly followed by Eddie H. Between the three of us we had every angle covered and shortly I was into the first fish of the day, a small Coalie. Eddie then had a postage stamp flattie but unfortunately that turned out to be just about it. As the ebb kicked in the weed and crushed up mussel shells started to build up and fishing became difficult. We stuck it out for another hour or so but it was not to be and by half seven we'd had enough.

Last cast I pulled in the littlest Flounder I've ever seen, the greedy bugger was hardly bigger than my hand and wolfed down a big ragworm bait on a 1/0 hook :o

With the sea running as it was I expected better to be honest but then that's fishing. Still it was nice to try a new venue for the first time and good to meet up with a couple of good lads off here.

Hey,

You forgot to mention the half pair of jeans I caught, and the obligatory 10 stone of shells.

I thought the rag had grabbed the "baby" Flounder. Shame the water bourne debris spoiled what could have been a cracking sess.
Great to meet Daz, and now "Malcolm". Though never knew it at the time.

Borrowed some Bass gear of my mate and going to attempt the power station sleuce gates tomorrow pm. Something completely new for me.

Love this fishing lark, bet it was egg n chips for 3 when we got home eh.

TTFN ..... Eddie
