Peeler crab

With the peeler season almost upon us I was wondering if any of you guys ever have enough to sell?? In an ideal world I would be looking for good sized/quality frozen crab - and enough to do a whole season for me and a mate. So I am looking for around 600ish. Any help & info would be greatly appreciated.

£60 per hundred for fresh and £80 per hundred frozen.mind you sports and leisure has some frozen crabs at the moment 2-3 in a wrap for £1 each yes it is expensive but think of the costs involved.petrol/diesel.electric,gas and not to mention the time you spend collecting them and looking after them.worked it out that the average hourly rate for anyone who does this would be on 87p per hour not bad for getting out of bed at 3am and not going back to bed till well after 11pm.fingers stinging like a prostitutes you no what on a very good night.so save the replies of thats a bit expensive.you can save money by collecting yourself.as for me i have been supplying for years and enjoy seeing lads win matches and catching fish of the crabs i supply.not saying you will win but the crabs are good quality.

It is the owners one collection he is selling,i get the impression he is not selling it to everybody.
Could be wrong but non of the staff will sell it, they refer you to the owner.
I have been going there and buying bait and othet stuff for over 18 month now so they know me.
Just want to save anyone a drive,might be worth a phone call first.

thats rite lowrider m8t, they r johns own suply but like u say if any body wants them it pays 2 ring first.
i told john that a m8t of mine wanted some last weekend & he sorted him out with 40.00 quids worth.
mind lads i dont think he has many left so get in quick.

This might be a stupid question (humour me!) but is it possible to use small hard-shell crabs for bait?

I\'ve read as much as I can but can\'t find any mention of it. I asked a mate, whose explaination only went as far as \'no just use peeler\'.

I understand that the soft shell is left on to keep the body intact, but is there any difference in smell or anything which would make a hard-shell ineffective (if it can be made to stay on the hook).

I\'m way too tight to pay out fortunes for peeler, and understand they\'re not easy to find on the shore.

That\'s a very good question Lemmy, I know small hard back crabs are good bait for wrasse, but you often find them in the stomachs of cod.

It\'s worth trying to tip a worm bait off with a small hard crab (just to add smell). Virtually every cod I\'ve gutted has had hard crabs in them so they are obviously a natural bait. Some people say they work and some people say they don\'t. Try it for yourself. Good luck.
