Penn 525 MAG2 PROBLEM

Hi lads can anybody help with this, when casting out the line sometimes goes over the edge of the spool and gets trapped in the reel casing causing snap offs and birdsnests. Ive tried not loading the spool up so much and different diameter lines but this makes no difference. I also use a Saltist 30 and have no probs with that reel only the Penn Mag2, any help/suggestions gratefully accepted.

Id give penn a call.. Sounds like spool isnt fitting right..

Have you checked spool tension nut make sure not too much play?

sounds as if the spindle is not shimmed up correctly - have you stripped it and re-assembled but not centred spool with the right number of shims?

Mine does the same now and again and i got told it was a design fault and that all mk2 525's have the same problem. Suppose thats what happens when an american reel is made in china
