back from the west coast had a good time pike fishing.fished three lochs heron and ronald and blanked.next day tried white house loch and ended up with three from there best being 5.5lb then tried auchenreoch loch this one was more productive best pike caught was by my son 7.5lb jammy get no monsters but enjoyed it anyway:)

Hi , that's a typical pike fishing trip across there , or it was when I fished there regularly , 7.5lb is a canny pike ;) . The odd bigger one would show up but I was always happy with a few around that size :)

Which part did you fish at auchenreoch? I might fish it next week after loch ken. I know of good fish coming out of it.

Best to fish next to laybye next to the rubbish bin its free fishing will be weedy this time of the year, would rather fish Woodhall Loch than Loch Ken (full crayfish) or the Castle Loch at Lochmaben.

you will need your chestwaders if you fish next to the rubbish bins its well flooded and yes it is weedy there

I've not had anything from woodhall loch, even in the boat it's a beautiful place though. I've not done well at ken either I'm sure it's to do with cray fish and pressure. That's why I fancy auchenreoch or carlingwark on way back.

Milton Loch and Loch Rutten are worth trying and if very windy Loch Arthur all in the same area. Woodhall is by far the best had many doubles up to 19lb over the years and very rarelly blank the magic bait is Lamprey.

I've had good results from loch rutton, some good doubles. Not fished Milton but one of those I've wanted to try for a while. Not tried loch Arthur either. We went to woodhall in February, my mate had a 6 pounder but that was it for a full day. Tried it again in march for a couple of hours in the boat and nothing.

Hello lads,
Sorry to jump onto the thread but does anyone know of any pike lakes near to the Seahouses and Berwick areas of Northumberland, say within 40 miles or so.

Regards Ian

Thanks for that mate, I was told about Yetholm by someone else too so I'll probably try there at some point.
I was also told to try Alemoor which is a bit further west I think, I've been told that it holds some real biggies.

Thanks again for your advice blugsden.

Try heading south to semer water just past Richmond and leyburn. I've had a 23lb and a 24lb. My mates had a 29lb a few years back.

its also done 30lbs cos they are big bream eaters.

Also had double rod hook ups with jacks on the right hand side bank in the woods.
