thanks to nicky for your advice :)

we visited here on saturday as one of our summer league away matches. only 5 of us could make this one though.

going off advice we arrived at 9am for a high tide at 12.

this would give us an hour to have a good look around and be ready to start at 10am

we were told wed get around 2 hours before and after high tide.

ariving at the port we planned to fish to the left [looking out to sea] ..... WHAT SEA? we couldnt see a sign of water in any direction. but we stuck to what we were told and set up to wait for the arrival of some water.

being a smaller tide we set up on the grass patches at the top of the mud. with great excitment we spotted water arriving in the distance. it wasnt until 11am that there was about 18in of water in the gully in front of us. itching to get started we walked bown the beach and lobbed a bait into it thinking we,d have a bait in the water once it deepened. i had a bite straight away :o and brought a flounder of 32cm ashore within minutes.

i had a fish a cast for the next 6 casts running up and down the beach, mainly fish under 20cm but a few size.

the other lads were also picking up a few. the tide only just made the edge of the green before turning back. bites over high were very few and far between with little caught. as the tide retreated rapidly i was thinking of wrapping up with the tide now 30ft away and weed being a problem.

the bites came back on with force and once again we were getting fish steadily.

we fished it all the way back lobbing baits into the gully that drained water off the bank. at one stage the gully was only the length of a rod wide and we were still pulling fish out of it. we litterally fished it until there was no water left. it was about 3.15 when we stopped.

we didnt get any of the expected larger fish but had a couple at 35cm and a few up to 33cm.

we enjoyed the day out and certainly learned a few things but next time will fish a larger tide and not with a brisk n/e wind in our faces.

thanks to the lads who helped us with advice.

i,m sure adam will put our results up at some time.

Lmao mate, i can relate to this. We seen a peir like structure at bowness on solaway on google earth, we thought we'd give it a bash, arrived, low tide, water nearly a mile from the peir, so we set up and waited for it to arrive, an hour later it was there and flounders/dabs were everywhere! Such a strange and dangerous place to go fishing, especially at night!
