Heres a one lads.
John on the Maggie May was saying on the boat the other day the fish are attracted by the pirk hitting the sea floor and the movement so it does,nt really matter what colour they are.
One guy in fact painted his pirks black ?.
I like the imitation fish pirks and i also like the bright red painted ones which fished the best when i was out.
Does it really matter.
As to the lures do you think the fish can actually see them such as the imitation jelly fish in green (muppets).
Or do you think its down to movement. When you think it must be dark down on the bottom.

The way I understand it with pirks is this (and this has come from reading various books/articles) is that the Pirk bouncing horizontally up and down on the sea bed simulates a feeding fishing scavenging on the bottom...when i look at my Goldfish, they feed tail up when scooting around the pebbles etc so it must hold some truth.

seem to remember reading somewhere that water filters out the different colours in the spectrum at different depths, so if no light of a specific colour is getting through, an object of that colour appears black, blues being the first colour to go through to reds which are the last, so a blue lure at a certain depth appears black but a red or orange one at the same depth still appears red or orange

might be why the red and orange lures seem to be the most productive if they are still showing some colour to make them stand out when everything else around them appears as black

plain lead pirks have worked as well as any colored ones fpr me this year .
theres probly not much difference imo , though certain colours do seem to stand out somedays .

Do all other colours not go very soon after. Can fish see in colour anyway. IMHO colour means very little. If a boat's over fish everyone catches. I think the experienced angler wins out in being able to judge where the lure is. i.e. height above structure, bottom.

im probs just a silly novice but i have always thought fish didn't see in colour?! I've always thought (like CT said) it was about how close the pirk was to the bottom and the action on it.

but like i said i've only been doing this for a little while

Yes lad

It's the angle of the dangle IMO

Not the fleah flah of the floh floh

One thing is for sure, when you do realise just EXACTLY what attracts the fish ie the place, the depth, the light , the tide, the time, the weather , the season, the boat, the wind, the shape of weight ,the type of line, the lure, the color, the bait, the action, the hook ............ then all you have to do is repeat the same conditions again

to guarantee .... thats the rules have all changed :) :) :)

ps orange does work though :)
