plenty sport in Tyne

with the sea not being as big as first forecast at the beginning of the week, I decided to just stick to the river. fished down at billquay 2 hours before and after high water. managed 13 undersized codling all around 6 - 8 inches long. most taken on a single lug worm and a few on rag. tipping the baits with makeral didn't seem to work today. 2 hook flapper with size 2 mantas did the trick, definitely worth matching the hook size to the fish your catching.
wish I'd seen the post about live baiting before I'd went, think it might have worked.

Totally agree mate size 1 with a single hook worked for us could not connect with the larger 3/0 and 4/0 hooks there seems to be loads of tiny codling about

Yeah had that problem my self just getting the small stuff on the little hooks bait coming back untouched on the 3/0
